HEALING AND RECONCILIATION FOR COMMUNITIES AND FAMILIES
Submerging Alongside Ancestors
A Vision Quest involves an exploration and education of the spiritual and cultural legacies left behind by Indigenous ancestors, taught by those remaining today.

They weave Indigenous values, traditions and culture together and provide opportunities for people from varied backgrounds to learn, work and participate in ceremony.
They aim to revitalize culture, instill self-pride in Indigenous youth and help heal intergenerational trauma.
Successful Vision Quests require a deep experience supported by Indigenous Nations and created using the wisdom of Elders and Knowledge Keepers. Comprised of representatives from more than twenty Indigenous agencies, the Peace River Aboriginal Inter-Agency Committee (PRAIC), is hosting a week-long Vision Quest. Available to Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth, participants will experience teachings from Elders and learn about the impactful legacies of Indigenous ancestors. They are taught love, respect and reconciliation with the land and one-another, and will come away changed, open-minded and forward-looking.
The Indigenous Reconciliation Fund (IRF) is honoured to provide funding for the PRAIC Vision Quest to help young Indigenous Peoples and their allies on their journeys to become leaders of tomorrow. This grant will support costs in several areas including a sweat lodge, feast and prize giveaway. Elders and their helpers will be on-site throughout the week to provide a safe space for participants affected by the residential school system to seek healing through ceremony and related activities.
PRAIC has been enhancing individual and community work to help create positive outcomes for Indigenous children, families and communities since 2003. For more than two decades, the organization has become a vital network for Indigenous Peoples looking for resources and seeking to join programs. It has become a trusted organizer of unforgettable events and a pillar of reconciliation within the region.
