HEALING AND RECONCILIATION FOR COMMUNITIES AND FAMILIES

Bridging Divides at Moosonee Reconciliation Gathering

Moosonee, a community in the James Bay area of Ontario, is set to host an important reconciliation gathering, driven by the idea of a community Elder.

The event, inspired by the desire to bridge divides between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples, marks an important moment in the ongoing journey of reconciliation.

Participants and guest speakers will come together for a brainstorming session, seeking new ways to foster reconciliation and heal historical wounds. A grant provided by the Indigenous Reconciliation Fund (IRF) will cover key expenses to ensure the event’s success, including honorariums for guest speakers and transportation, food and accommodation for all attendees.

The gathering represents a platform to facilitate ongoing dialogue between Indigenous peoples and the Catholic Church, fostering understanding, healing and reconciliation. It is a significant step towards addressing historical injustices and building meaningful relationships built on mutual respect and understanding.
