The St. Paul’s Language and Culture Project is a joint initiative between parishioners of the Squamish Nation and St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Vancouver, BC. Fostering healing and reconciliation is at the heart and spirit of this project, which looks to incorporate the Squamish language and cultural practices into Masses and Sacramental Rites.
In 2022, funding from the IRF supported 8 weeks of Squamish language classes, the design and fabrication of Indigenous vestments and regalia and cultural mentorship.
The St. Paul’s Language and Culture Project responds to the ask of parishioners to walk in solidarity with the Indigenous community and deepen their understanding of their culture and language.
